Wrestling (WWE) is just not one of my favorite things to watch. For one thing instead of looking at the activity for enjoyment I end up scrutinizing and only focusing on the phony drama. Now before I have you wrestling fans jumping up and down in protest; I am not criticizing WWE. I am just saying that it is not one of my favorite things. When some of my nephews were little their rooms were decorated with posters of their favorite wrestlers and I wonder why they did not have nightmares looking at their faces made up to look like demons to me. They probably thought I was from another planet because I did not have a clue as to who was who in wrestling. I could have cared less! My grandmother was also a fan. She would shout at the tv screen and make movements as if she were in the ring with them. All I could do was laugh and shake my head. I did not realize that there was so much I could have learned, just by watching, if I had just taken the time.
The sport of wrestling is considered a combat sport that involves grappling. You have two opponents that are unarmed, struggling hand to hand with the intent of throwing their opponent off balance or subduing them. One means to control the other! It is a going back and forth until one or the other wins. Such is the battle of the mind. There are times when I really wrestle with a thought or thoughts that enter my mind. Thoughts that make me want to second guess myself when I know in my heart that I have made the right decision. There is a going back and forth, over and over again that can cause me to lose sleep if I allow the battle to persist. It is a grappling that is uncomfortable and unwelcomed.
And so, I pray, and I ask God to help me in my distress-in my dis-rest. He infuses my mind His word.
Perfect, absolute peace surrounds[a] those whose imaginations[b] are consumed with you; they confidently trust in you. Isaiah 26:3 The Passion Translation
10 Now my beloved ones, I have saved these most important truths for last: Be supernaturally infused with strength through your life-union with the Lord Jesus. Stand victorious with the force[i] of his explosive power flowing in and through you. 11 Put on God’s complete set of armor[j] provided for us, so that you will be protected as you fight against the evil strategies of the accuser![k] 12 Your hand-to-hand combat is not with human beings, but with the highest principalities and authorities operating in rebellion under the heavenly realms.[l] For they are a powerful class of demon-gods[m] and evil spirits that hold[n] this dark world in bondage. 13 Because of this, you must wear all the armor that God provides so you’re protected as you confront the slanderer,[o] for you are destined for all things[p] and will rise victorious. Ephesians 6: 10-13 The Passion Translation
I have won this round but the next one is right on the horizon and I will wrestle. I will grapple and with the grace of God I will win again.
