I will be the first to say, “I am not all that smart”. In fact, I sometimes forget how to spell a simple word. There are even times when, me and my smart self will walk into a room and forget why I was there. I have so much on my mind that it can become rather crowded, and I must take time to rest and rejuvenate my little “gray cells”! Sometime my mind just gets tired!
When God created man in His own image, He gave the first man the ability to name all the animals. It should have been quite easy for him, taking into consideration he had little pressure. Perhaps he didn’t need to make as many decisions as I do. He lived in a place which was perfect and peaceful. I do not. The first man was with his Creator whom he communed with daily. He was living large!
At present, I am teaching a small group bible which meets once a week. To prepare for the study, I must pray, study and try to stay focused. Many are the distractions that can get me off course if I allow them to. It would be so easy to get caught in a thought and end up going down a rabbit hole! I always learn something new as I study. I could have read a particular passage of scripture a dozen or more times, but when I dig deeper, I always find something new… something fresh. It is like digging in the ground while searching for diamonds. When my digging seems unfruitful, I put my spade in and dig deeper and voilà. There it is! I see the tip of the gem sticking up through the dirt. I want to see more of it, so I dig around it and the more I dig, the more is exposed!
You know God’s word is like that! His word contains precious gems that are just waiting to be searched for, discovered and dug up. I will have a spade in my hand until the day I die. I will be always desiring and digging for His nuggets of truth! I am a lifetime learner!
